Many people just think about a logo when they think about branding; but working with John you will understand just how deep and meaningful a visual brand identity can be. During my time working with Discovery Gospel Choir, I had the opportunity to work directly with John on re-imaging the choir’s branding. I was so impressed – he treated years of community based ideas about the visual identity of the group with such care and respect. When I began to look at branding in my work as an artist, I knew John was the person I wanted to work with.
John brought that same level of care and attention to developing a deep understanding of the motivations and values that underpin my work as a songwriter and performer. He distilled all of this information into the visual identity he made for me (inclusive of a logo, colour charts, and brand identity guide). I didn’t think I could be so moved by a logo, but it turns out that’s entirely possible! I use the branding guide John created for everything – the colours of t-shirts in my store, creative brainstorming with photographers, my overlay on Twitch, how I post on social media. It helps me to stay consistent and grounded in my core values and goals as an artist.
I would recommend John without reservation. Not only does he have up to date knowledge of what a modern brand needs to have in place, but he has an artistic sensibility that helps him to create the right visual brand identity for you. That’s a winning combination.
