Founded in 1806, Bible Society Ireland (BSI) has been part of a quiet, steady revolution — placing the Bible into the hands, homes, and hearts of people across the nation. What began with the vision of Mary Jones and the dedication of early Auxiliary Societies has grown into an enduring mission: making Scripture accessible, relevant, and alive for each generation.

Today, as younger audiences search for meaning, connection, and deeper truth, BSI recognised that its identity needed to grow with them — honouring over two centuries of legacy while speaking to the present with clarity and warmth.


Challenge

The Society’s brand identity carried immense heritage but lacked the tools to connect with modern audiences. The challenge was to:

  • Honour tradition without appearing outdated.
  • Clarify positioning to better articulate their mission in contemporary Ireland.
  • Create a unified system that would guide all communications with consistency and resonance.

Strategy

Working closely with Dr. Julie McKinley, General Secretary, we approached the project through Zarura’s Brand Operating System (BOS) lens — balancing heritage with renewal.

Naming & Positioning:
Evolved the name and defined a clear brand position that reflects both the historic foundation and forward-looking spirit of the organisation.

Verbal Identity:
Crafted messaging frameworks and a new tone of voice — inviting, clear, and rooted in the heart of BSI’s mission.

Visual Language:
Designed a new logo and system that feels timeless yet alive, connecting tradition with modernity.

Multi-Sensory Expression:
Extended the identity into motion design, sonic signature, and a brand film, ensuring the story could live across digital, physical, and experiential spaces.

Guidelines:
Built comprehensive brand guidelines to anchor every expression with clarity and consistency.


Outcome

The result is a bold yet faithful brand presence: one that honours over 200 years of legacy while speaking to today’s search for meaning. Bible Society Ireland now carries a renewed identity — timeless, alive, and equipped to inspire future generations.

Through every element, the mission remains unchanged: helping people draw closer to God through His living Word, generation after generation.
